Meet our Honored Superhero
On March 14, 2016 Noah was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia after being sick for a month straight with no answers as to why he wasn’t getting any better. The day after he was diagnosed, he started the first phase of treatment which included two doses of chemo and steroids on day one. He’s had many ups and downs over the past five months but has proven to us all what a fighter he is and how much natural resilience he holds within himself. Even on the toughest days, he tries to play, smile and have fun. He loves everything about hockey, roller blading, building forts and train tracks with his little brother, Charlie, creating cabins out of Lincoln Logs, going on bike rides, driving his toy John Deer while he mows the lawn with Daddy, swimming and boating at the cottage. At the young age of five, Noah is very aware of the importance of taking care of his body. He eats healthy, drinks a lot of water and takes daily baths in Epsom salt to help detox his body from chemo. He’s becoming a strong advocate for himself by telling friends about his port and how they need to be careful when playing together. He knows he needs chemotherapy to get rid of his Leukemia, and he typically just accepts it for what it is with a positive attitude. There are times when he says, “I wish I didn’t have Leukemia,” which is always heartbreaking to hear. We all wish he didn’t have Leukemia and could live a normal and care-free life of a five year old instead of enduring chemotherapy and steroid treatments until May of 2020. We are so thankful for the outpouring of support from family, friends, nurses and doctors, LLS and the community. The research currently happening is exciting and gives hope for a CURE to happen soon!
Why we run?
The employees at C.H. Robinson have a deep passion for making a difference in the community by helping others and raising money for local charities.
Over the years we have developed a longstanding relationship with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Our employees are passionate about this cause as we have had friends, relatives, and loved ones who have been affected by blood cancers. Over the past 11 years we have proudly participated in the Light the Night Walk event and held an annual charity golf event to raise money for the LLS. Our employees take pride in the fact that to date we have raised over $400,000 for LLS!
In 2016, in addition to our annual charity golf event and participation in the Light the Night Walk, we added the inaugural Superhero 5k & Family sMILE in order to involve more of the community in helping us fight for this great cause. We know that Madison is a wonderful giving community and look forward to hosting those who share our passion for life and helping others. Come out and have some fun!
We walk, golf, and run cause’ it’s in our blood!
